【摘要】:Aknowledgeofthewatercontentoflubricatingoils,additives,andsimilarproductsisimportantinthemanufacturing,purchase,sale,ortransferofsuchpetroleumproductstohelpinpredictingtheirqualityandperformancecharacteristics.Forlubricatingoils,thepresenceofmoisturecouldleadtoprematurecorrosionandwear,anincreaseinthedebrisloadresultingindiminishedlubricationandprematurepluggingoffilters,animpedanceintheeffectofadditives,andundesirablesupportofdeleteriousbacterialgrowth.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedirectdeterminationofwaterintherangeof10to25000mg/kgentrainedwaterinpetroleumproductsandhydrocarbonsusingautomatedinstrumentation.ThistestmethodalsocoverstheindirectanalysisofwaterthermallyremovedfromsamplesandsweptwithdryinertgasintotheKarlFischertitrationcell.Mercaptan,sulfide(SorH2S),sulfur,andothercompoundsareknowntointerferewiththistestmethod(seeSection5).1.2ThistestmethodisintendedforusewithcommerciallyavailablecoulometricKarlFischerreagentsandforthedeterminationofwaterinadditives,lubeoils,baseoils,automatictransmissionfluids,hydrocarbonsolvents,andotherpetroleumproducts.Byproperchoiceofthesamplesize,thistestmethodmaybeusedforthedeterminationofwaterfrommg/kgtopercentlevelconcentrations.1.3ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.Nootherunitsofmeasurementsareincludedinthisstandard.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
