【摘要】:ThistestmethodcanbeusedtoquantifyandcomparethecoolingprovidedbydifferentPersonalCoolingSystems(PCS)wornwithastandardoutergarmentorwithaspecifiedprotectiveoutergarment.ThistestmethodwillassesstheperformanceofPCSbasedonthephysiologicalmeasurementofcoretemperature,meanskintemperature,heartrate,exposuretime,oxygenconsumption,andwholebodysweatrate.EvaluatingtheeffectivenessofPCSisanextremelycomplicatedendeavorthatinvolvesmanyfactorsrelatedtothermalexchangebetweenthePCS,theenvironment,andtheparticipant.Itwouldnotbepracticalinatestmethodofthisscopetoestablishdetailssufficienttocoverallcontingencies.Therefore,avalidphysiologicalmethodofmeasuringcoretemperature,alongwithothervariablesofthermalstrain,providesanacceptablemeansofclassifyingtheperformanceofPCS.ThistestmethodwillalsomeasuretheamountoftimethePCSmaintainscoretemperaturewithinsafelimitsduringaspecifiedconditionofthermalstress.Departuresfromtheinstructionsinthistestmethodmayleadtosignificantlydifferenttestresults.Technicalknowledgeconcerningthermoregulatoryresponses,thetheoryofheattransfer,physiologicalandenvironmentaltemperaturemeasurement,andtestingpracticesisneededtoevaluatewhichdeparturesfromtheinstructionsgiveninthistestmethodaresignificant.Alldeparturesmustbereportedwiththeresults.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthephysiologicalmeasurementofinternalbodycoretemperature,skintemperature,thermalexposuretime,heartrateresponse,oxygenconsumption,andwholebodysweatrate,toassesstheeffectivenessofPersonalCoolingSystems(PCS)inreducingtheeffectsofthermalstress.1.1.1Toincreasesafetyduringphysiologicaltesting,thisdynamictestrequirestheuseofhumanparticipantswhoexhibitspecifichealthandphysicalfitnessrequirements.1.2Thistestincorporatestheuseofprotectiveclothingensembles(outergarments)usedinconjunctionwithorwornovertopofthePCS.Thisscopeisthereforeorientedtoindustrialratherthanathleticapplications.1.2.1TheeffectivenessofdifferentPCSwillbequantifiedwiththesameprotectiveclothingensemble.Therefore,thephysiologicalvaluesobtainedapplyonlytothecoolingsystems,theparticularprotectiveoutergarment,andthespecifictestconditions.1.2.2Whenaprotectiveoutergarmentisnotprovided,thistestmethodrequiresthatPCSshallbetestedwiththestandardoutergarmentdefinedwithinthistestmethod.1.2.3Thepresentstandarddoesnotattempttodetermineimportantclothingcharacteristics,suchasthermalinsulationandevaporativeresistance,ofthePCSorofthegarmentswornwiththePCS.TestMethodsF1291andF2370canbereferencedfortheseclothingmeasurements.1.3ThevaluesstatedinthistestmethodshallbeSIunits.1.4Itistheresponsibilityofthetestlaboratorytoobtainthenecessaryandappropriateapproval(s)requiredbytheirinstitutionforconductingtestsusinghumanparticipants.1.5Thistestmethoddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthistestmethodtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
